Samsung has kicked off the rollout of One UI 8, starting with the Galaxy S25, but leaks are already hinting at the next major update: One UI 8.5. This software upgrade is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 in early 2026, and recent leaks are giving us a first look at what to expect.
On Friday, user wr3cckl3ss1 on X/Twitter shared screenshots of an early One UI 8.5 build (S938BXXU5CYIA) running on the Galaxy S25 Ultra (via SammyGuru).
Among the highlights is a redesigned Quick Settings menu, which now supports resizable tiles for more customization—similar to the Android 16 QPR1 update seen on Pixel devices.

The leak also shows a new “Add a control” button at the bottom of the Quick Settings sheet, which appears when resizing or rearranging icons. Screenshots of the Software Information page reveal that this early build includes the September 2025 security patch and the October 2025 Google Play system update.
Beyond Quick Settings, My Files is getting a visual overhaul, featuring circular icons for file categories and a search bar relocated to the bottom of the screen. The Phone app is also seeing updates, including a floating pill-shaped navigation bar for Keypad, Recents, and Contacts, plus a new Direct Voicemail option in settings.

These leaks are just the beginning, and we can expect more details as additional users gain access to early builds of One UI 8.5 on their Galaxy devices. Some of the changes appear influenced by iOS 26, though the final version may still differ.
Either way, One UI 8.5 promises significant tweaks to Samsung’s software ahead of the Galaxy S26 launch.
