PS Plus Features Battlefield V, Stalker and more free games in May 2025

By Aayush

Sony has just announced the lineup of titles joining PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium this May — and it’s a solid batch aimed at winning back goodwill from players. Among the most notable additions are Battlefield V, Sand Land, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy.

In total, nine new games will be added to the PS Plus catalog starting May 20, 2025. The update comes at a time when Sony faces growing criticism over recent subscription price hikes and a perceived lack of blockbuster titles compared to Xbox Game Pass.

Here’s a quick snapshot of what to expect:

  • Battlefield V – The World War II shooter returns with its trademark large-scale battles.
  • Sand Land – Based on the manga by Akira Toriyama, this action RPG brings a unique art style and story-driven gameplay.
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy – A cult favorite collection blending survival, horror, and atmospheric storytelling.

This month’s lineup seems like a strategic move to remind subscribers of the value behind PS Plus, especially for those on the fence after recent service changes.

If you’re subscribed to either the Extra or Premium tiers, you’ll be able to dive into these titles starting May 20.

PS Plus Games List in May

Check out all the games that will be added on PS Plus this month, with nine PS4 and PS5 titles:

  1. Sand Land
  2. Battlefield V
  3. Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy
  4. Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted – Full Time Edition
  5. Soul hackers 2
  6. Granblue Fantasy versus: Rising
  7. Humankind
  8. Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
  9. Gloomhaven Mercenaries Edition

In addition to the rotating catalog titles, PlayStation Plus subscribers also gained access to three permanent games earlier in May: Balatro, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, and ARK: Survival Ascended. Unlike the Extra and Premium selections that come and go, these games are part of the Essential tier — meaning once you claim them, they’re yours to keep in your library for as long as your subscription remains active.

Updated versions

One of the standout additions this month is Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy, which lands on PS5 as the Enhanced Edition — a remastered version featuring upgraded visuals and a range of refinements that elevate the overall gameplay experience.

Meanwhile, Battlefield V, originally released in 2018, also joins the lineup. It remains the second-most recent entry in the franchise, only followed by Battlefield 2042. Its arrival on PS Plus might hint at something bigger: whispers in the industry suggest a new Battlefield could be launching sometime between late 2025 and early 2026. That said, neither EA nor DICE has officially confirmed any plans just yet.
