A fresh rumor suggests that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 could introduce a major shake-up to its campaign. According to insider Tom Henderson, the game’s final mission will reportedly support up to 32 players in an online cooperative scenario.
The mission is said to revolve around an extraction-style experience, borrowing elements from popular survival shooters. Henderson warns, however, that teamwork won’t guarantee success:
“I’ve heard the mission will be hardcore, similar to other extraction shooters on the market. If you’re taken out and your squad fails, you’ll lose all of your character’s progress,” Henderson told Insider Gaming.
Beyond this ambitious finale, Black Ops 7 is also rumored to feature cross-progression across campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies. Players would be able to level up their character, weapons, and battle pass in any of these modes — a step further than previous Call of Duty titles, which largely restricted progression to online play.
One question still lingers: for players without a subscription on consoles like PlayStation and Xbox, will bots fill in for missing teammates, or will the climactic mission be locked behind multiplayer? Activision has yet to confirm. More official details are expected as the game approaches release.
Black Ops 7’s Final Mission Rumored to Be “Avalon”
Insider Tom Henderson has revealed that the climactic mission of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will reportedly be called Avalon. The mission was originally designed for Call of Duty: Warzone’s battle royale mode, but developers Treyarch and Raven Software are said to have shifted it into the main campaign instead.
As with other recent leaks, Activision has not confirmed any of this information. However, with Black Ops 7 expected to be one of the big showcases at Gamescom 2025, it’s likely we’ll get a clearer look during Opening Night Live on Tuesday, August 19.

The game still doesn’t have an official release date, but multiple leaks suggest it’s targeting November 14, 2025. Launch platforms are said to include PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC — though there’s currently no indication of a Nintendo Switch 2 version.
