GTA 6 Faces Another Potential Delay as Rockstar and Take-Two Weigh Options

By Aayush

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick says he’s confident Grand Theft Auto VI will hit its planned release date of May 26, 2026, but admits there’s still a degree of uncertainty.

Speaking to CNBC, Zelnick expressed strong faith in Rockstar’s work, calling his confidence level “very, very high,” yet acknowledging that game development can be unpredictable.

While expectations are massive, he stressed that the studio won’t rush the process just to meet hype.

“We try not to fuel the fire of expectations. Rockstar has a history of delivering beyond what people imagine. I know their vision, and I know this will be a spectacular game,” Zelnick said.

From 2025 to 2026

Originally targeted for a 2025 launch, GTA 6 was quietly pushed back to May 2026. The game will debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC version confirmed but still without a date.

Beyond GTA 6

Zelnick hinted that Rockstar has multiple projects in the works but didn’t give details. Industry insiders have speculated about a GTA IV remaster and a Red Dead Redemption 2 port for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series, though nothing has been confirmed.

The studio is also collaborating with Remedy Entertainment on remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2, both still in development without release windows.

While recent rumors suggest GTA 6 could be delayed again, neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has officially indicated another shift in the schedule.
