Despite earlier expectations, Xiaomi’s upcoming HyperOS 3 won’t be adopting the sleek “liquid glass” visuals seen in iOS 26. That’s according to a recent leak shared by an X (formerly Twitter) user, which suggests the new design leans more toward a fuller, card-style layout—reminiscent of older MIUI versions.
Xiaomi has often taken cues from Apple, especially in areas like the control center. So, it came as a surprise when @sunnny1583 posted images showing that, instead of copying Apple’s latest aesthetic, HyperOS 3 appears to echo MIUI’s earlier design approach. Observers even pointed out how closely the new layout resembles MIUI 6 from back in 2014. The blocky, screen-filling design stands in stark contrast to the clean, translucent feel Apple introduced with iOS 26.

When will HyperOS 3 be released?
HyperOS 3 is expected to launch sometime in the second half of 2025, although Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed an exact release date yet.
One key detail is that the updated interface will be compatible with devices running Android 15 or 16. The upcoming Xiaomi 16 series is set to be the first lineup to ship with both Android’s latest version and HyperOS 3 straight out of the box.
