Microsoft is preparing to roll out a wave of new functionality for its Microsoft 365 productivity suite on Windows 11, with updates expected to land throughout August 2025, according to details shared by Windows Central.
Microsoft 365, the subscription-based version of Office, already offers access to staples like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, along with cloud-powered tools and services. Now, the platform is set to become even more versatile with several new add-ins designed to improve everyday workflows.
What’s Coming to Microsoft 365 on Windows 11
According to Microsoft’s updated roadmap (published on August 11, 2025), the following enhancements are on the way:
- People App Integration – A new way to browse organizational charts, search for colleagues, view contact details, and communicate directly from within Microsoft 365.
- File Search Add-in – Lets users quickly find documents across their Microsoft 365 account, preview them at a glance, and easily share with others.
- Calendar Add-in – Brings Microsoft 365’s calendar directly to the Windows 11 taskbar, allowing quick access to upcoming events, meeting links, and scheduling tools without opening a full app.
These additions were first teased earlier this year, and Microsoft has now confirmed they’re finally arriving.
By embedding these tools directly into Windows 11, Microsoft is expanding Microsoft 365 beyond the traditional office apps and making it more central to daily productivity. With easier access to people, files, and calendars from the desktop, users can save time and reduce the need to constantly jump between apps.
The updates highlight Microsoft’s broader strategy: transforming Microsoft 365 into a comprehensive productivity hub that goes far beyond Word and Excel, steadily growing into an all-in-one suite for communication, collaboration, and organization.
