A new leak this Monday (6) suggests that Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. According to the information, these versions are reportedly nearing completion, although no release date has been set yet.

The rumour originated from insider NateTheHate, a well-known source in the gaming community who has previously shared accurate information ahead of official announcements. Nate claims that Rockstar Games is preparing updated versions of its 2018 blockbuster for the latest consoles—but there’s still no confirmation from Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive.

This isn’t the first time Nate has mentioned a next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2. However, with Rockstar’s main focus currently on Grand Theft Auto VI, many fans have been sceptical about whether the studio has the bandwidth to handle multiple large-scale projects at once.

Focus Remains on GTA 6

The leak comes at a time when Rockstar is reportedly dedicating nearly all of its resources to the development of GTA 6, one of the most anticipated games in history, expected to launch in May 2026.

The company’s ongoing silence about any Red Dead Redemption 2 re-release raises doubts about the project’s existence. Still, the possibility that a support studio could be handling the upgrade or that the work has been quietly progressing for some time cannot be ruled out.

For now, these reports should be treated strictly as rumours, as neither Rockstar nor Take-Two have made any official announcements.
