Following its rollout to the Galaxy S25 series in mid-September and the Galaxy S23 lineup late last month, Samsung has now begun distributing the One UI 8 update (Android 16) to the Galaxy S22 family.
The update was first spotted in Türkiye, with build version S90xBXXUIGYI7, arriving via over-the-air download (~3.1GB). It also includes the September 1, 2025, security patch.

This release marks a milestone for the S22 series — and also the end of the line in terms of major Android upgrades. Samsung had committed to four generations of OS updates for the S22 lineup, which launched with Android 12 in 2022. That means Android 16 / One UI 8 will be its final major update.
While security patches will continue for a while longer, no further Android version updates are expected. Fortunately, Samsung’s latest flagships now come with seven years of OS and security updates, ensuring much longer software support for newer Galaxy models.
