During the latest State of Play on Wednesday night (24), Sony unveiled the first gameplay footage of Saros, the next big title from Returnal developer Housemarque. The roguelike shooter is set to launch on March 20, 2026, and promises a steady 60 FPS performance.
Housemarque is developing the project in collaboration with Nixxes Software, the studio best known for bringing PlayStation exclusives to PC. Built on Unreal Engine 5—a graphics engine often in the spotlight for its mixed PC performance—the game blends cinematic visuals with fast-paced action.
The five-minute gameplay showcase introduced players to protagonist Arjun Devraj, portrayed by British actor Rahul Kohli, as he battles enemies across the hostile, ever-changing planet of Metamorphic Carcosa. The footage highlights a mix of weapon-based combat, including shotguns, alongside dodge maneuvers, shields, and parry mechanics.
True to the roguelike formula, Carcosa transforms after every player death, keeping exploration unpredictable. Still, progression isn’t lost—Arjun will be able to enhance his suit and abilities over time, ensuring long-term growth across multiple runs.
More Big PlayStation Releases in 2026
Saros isn’t the only heavyweight on PlayStation’s 2026 calendar. Sony also shared a new look at Marvel’s Wolverine, the long-awaited project from Insomniac Games. First announced back in 2021, the game returned with a brutal, blood-soaked trailer during the showcase.
Marvel’s Wolverine is slated for release in fall 2026 in the Northern Hemisphere, joining Saros as part of next year’s lineup of major PlayStation 5 exclusives.
