AMD is said to be preparing new Ryzen 9000 X3D gaming processors that deliver higher clock speeds and improved performance over the current lineup. According to reliable leaker chi11ddog, both upcoming chips will feature boosted frequencies, including a major upgrade for the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, which is expected to hit 5.6 GHz — a 400MHz increase over the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. That’s roughly a 7.7% jump in maximum boost speed.
Even more intriguing is the mention of a Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, a new dual-chiplet design featuring 3D V-Cache on both dies. With a combined 192MB of L3 cache, this chip could become AMD’s most powerful gaming processor yet.
The CPU is also rumoured to maintain the same top clock speeds as the standard Ryzen 9 9950X3D, which mixes one cache-enhanced chiplet with a faster, non-V-Cache one.

If these reports hold true, AMD may have finally removed the clock speed trade-offs seen in earlier X3D models. The combination of higher boost frequencies and expanded cache should lead to noticeable gains in both gaming and general workloads.
With these improvements, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D strengthens AMD’s grip on the gaming CPU crown, while the 9950X3D2 could take performance to another level. If the leaks are accurate, AMD’s next wave of X3D chips could arrive just in time to counter Intel’s rumoured Arrow Lake Refresh, setting up another fierce showdown in the desktop CPU market.
