Surprisingly, benchmark results for AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X processor have leaked, despite the recent postponement of the Ryzen 9000 series launch. The leak surfaced on Thursday and showcases the processor’s remarkable performance when overclocked to 6 GHz.
According to sources, the Ryzen 9 9950X is AMD’s new flagship processor, featuring 16 cores with a default maximum boost clock of 5.7 GHz. However, the leaked benchmark demonstrates the chip’s potential when pushed beyond its stock specifications:
- Stock maximum frequency: 5.7 GHz
- Overclocked frequency: 6.0 GHz (300 MHz increase)

The overclocked Ryzen 9 9950X exhibited exceptional performance in popular benchmark suites:

- Single-core score: 2,795 points
- Multi-core score: 30,050 points
These scores represent a significant lead over the processor’s main competitor, the Intel Core i9-14900K, with performance gains of 12% in single-core and 16% in multi-core tests.

- Multi-core score: 26,047 points
In this newer benchmark, the Ryzen 9 9950X extended its lead further, outperforming the Core i9-14900K by 16% in single-core tests and 19% in multi-core tests.
It’s important to note that leaked benchmarks often utilize engineering samples, which may not fully represent the final retail products. This is not the first time the Ryzen 9 9950X has been pushed to extreme clock speeds. AMD demonstrated that the chip runs at an astounding 6.7 GHz using liquid nitrogen cooling in a controlled environment.
