AMD is preparing to expand its mobile processor lineup with a refreshed high-end chip, as the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 has surfaced in early benchmark results. The processor belongs to the Ryzen AI 400 series, introduced earlier this year as an update to the previous generation.
The listing provides a first look at the chip’s specifications and performance, including its integrated graphics solution, the Radeon 8065S.
Incremental CPU Performance Gains
Benchmark data indicate that the new processor delivers modest improvements over its predecessor, the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 395. Performance increases are estimated at around 10% in multi-threaded tasks and 5% in single-threaded workloads.
The gains appear to come primarily from small optimisations and a slight increase in clock speeds, rather than a major architectural redesign. Reports suggest the boost frequency has been raised by approximately 100 MHz.
New iGPU Offers Similar Performance
The updated chip introduces the Radeon 8065S integrated GPU. However, early indications suggest that its performance is close to that of the previous Radeon 8060S.
Both graphics units are expected to share similar configurations, likely featuring 40 compute units based on the RDNA 3.5 architecture. The main difference is a higher clock speed on the newer model, reaching around 3.0 GHz.
Benchmark data from PassMark also revealed a test system equipped with up to 188 GB of RAM, suggesting use in mobile workstations rather than standard laptops. The Ryzen AI Max+ PRO series is typically aimed at professional workloads that require large memory capacity and sustained performance.
Additional details indicate the tested device featured a QHD+ display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, reinforcing its positioning in the premium segment.
The Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 reflects a common trend in the industry, where refresh generations focus on incremental improvements rather than significant performance gains. For users already on the previous generation, the upgrade may offer limited benefits.
While the Ryzen AI 400 series is already available, the Max+ PRO variant is expected to arrive between 2026 and 2027. AMD has not yet announced an official release date.
With the introduction of the Radeon 8065S, AMD is likely to continue competing in the integrated graphics space, an area where it has frequently challenged rivals such as Intel for performance leadership.
