Apple is preparing a major update to its MacBook Pro lineup, with new 14- and 16-inch models featuring OLED displays expected to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2026 (October–December), according to a report from The Elec.
The OLED panels will reportedly be supplied exclusively by Samsung Display, with large-scale panel production scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026. Some components will enter production earlier, in the first quarter, while prototype units are expected to roll out of Samsung’s Gen 8 OLED A6 factory later this year.
Apple is said to be exploring ways to reduce costs on certain parts, though any failure to meet the company’s strict performance standards could result in delays. Samsung has already developed new panel components to meet Apple’s requirements.
Initial production volumes are expected to fall between two and three million units, but Samsung has the capacity to scale up to 10 million panels annually if demand requires.
Compared to the current mini-LED MacBook Pro models, OLED technology could offer several advantages, including higher brightness, deeper blacks with stronger contrast, better power efficiency, and longer battery life.
This report adds to a growing body of evidence that Apple is planning a significant redesign of the MacBook Pro, making 2026 a key year for its flagship laptop line.
