Square Enix has officially confirmed that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy will be available across all major platforms, including Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

Since Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade made its way to Xbox and confirmation landed that Switch 2 would be getting the game, fans have been waiting to hear if the rest of the trilogy would follow. That answer has now arrived, directly from series director Naoki Hamaguchi.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Hamaguchi stated that the trilogy is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. He explained that the team is committed to ensuring players can enjoy the series “in a way that suits their lifestyle.”

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy Officially Coming to Xbox and Switch 2

While confirmation of a multiplatform release is huge, there are still some questions left unanswered. Chief among them:

  • Will the final installment of the trilogy launch simultaneously across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch 2, and PC?
  • When will Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (the second part) arrive for Xbox and Switch 2?

Current rumors suggest that Rebirth could hit both platforms in 2026, though Square Enix has yet to officially announce dates.

What’s Next for Square Enix?

Alongside the trilogy news, fans are buzzing about other potential projects, including the heavily rumored Final Fantasy 9 Remake. Meanwhile, Square Enix producers have also started hinting at ideas for Final Fantasy 17, including discussions around the future of turn-based combat in the series.

For now, though, the big takeaway is clear: Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s world is opening up to more players than ever before.
