Google has released the official release notes for Google Home version 4.1, marking the first major update since the app’s major redesign. The update focuses on improving performance, fixing user-reported issues, and expanding new features for premium subscribers.
Key Improvements and Fixes
Google says the following fixes were made “based on your input” after the recent redesign:
- Wider rollout of Ask Home – Now available to more Google Home Premium subscribers, bringing smarter, conversational interactions to additional users.
- Improved scrolling on iOS – The Home tab now feels smoother and more responsive, particularly for users who have several cameras saved as Favourites.
- More accurate “All On” button on Android – The lights control button in the Lights category now properly reflects the correct status, greying out when not all lights are turned on.
- Fixed mislabeled Home Brief title – An issue where Ask Home sometimes described “today’s Home Brief” while showing the previous day’s summary has been corrected.
Availability and Rollout
The Early Access Program continues to expand and is currently available in:
- United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.
Google has also opened sign-ups for users in several new countries, including:
- Japan, Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Norway, Sweden, and Mexico.
