HMD Global, the company currently responsible for Nokia-branded devices, is working on a new hybrid smartphone called Touch 4G. The model aims to combine the simplicity of traditional feature phones with key elements of modern smartphones, including a touchscreen and advanced connectivity options.
According to leaks, the HMD Touch 4G will feature a compact metallic body, available in grey and blue, and a 3.2-inch touchscreen display — prioritising portability and practicality over large-screen experiences. The rear houses a single camera in a circular module, while the front includes a selfie camera for basic photo and video functions.

The term hybrid here refers to the combination of a simplified interface and essential functions like calls and text messages with limited support for apps and modern features. The device is rumoured to run on the Series 30+ system (or a similar platform) instead of full Android, placing it somewhere between a traditional phone and a smartphone.
Other leaked specifications include 4G LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity, USB-C charging, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual SIM support, FM radio, microSD expansion, video call capability, and even cloud data synchronisation. The device is also expected to deliver long battery life, one of the hallmarks of HMD’s classic designs.
For now, several details remain unclear — including RAM and storage capacity, battery specifications, camera quality, and price. It’s also uncertain whether the Touch 4G will support popular apps beyond basic utilities or if international versions will be released outside India.
The official unveiling is expected to take place later in October, with the initial launch planned for the Indian market. If confirmed, the Touch 4G could appeal to users seeking a simple, reliable device with just enough smart functionality to stay connected in today’s digital world.
