Intel is expected to expand its presence in the handheld gaming segment with a new line of processors based on its Panther Lake architecture. According to a report from VideoCardz, the upcoming chips will be branded as Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme, targeting portable consoles and compact gaming systems.
The company had previously introduced Panther Lake processors at CES 2026, highlighting their improved integrated graphics performance, which positioned them closer to competing solutions from AMD. At the time, Intel indicated that variants designed specifically for handheld devices would follow at a later date.
The Arc G3 lineup is expected to be officially unveiled during Computex 2026, scheduled for early June. The launch of the processors is likely to take place shortly after the announcement, alongside details of manufacturing partners working on compatible devices.
Early information suggests that Intel will introduce two main variants, with the Extreme model positioned as the higher-performance option.
The Arc G3 chips are built on the Panther Lake platform and will feature integrated graphics from Intel’s Arc B300 series. The higher-end version is expected to include the Arc B390 GPU, currently the company’s most powerful integrated graphics solution, also seen in processors such as the Core Ultra X9 388H.
The standard model is likely to use the Arc B370 GPU, offering a more balanced configuration for performance and efficiency.
Designed for Portable Systems
Power consumption will play a key role in these processors. Reports indicate a base thermal design power of around 25 watts, with peak levels ranging from 65 to 80 watts depending on the configuration. These figures are particularly relevant for handheld gaming devices, where thermal limits and battery life are critical considerations.
The expected lifecycle of the chips could extend into the second quarter of 2027, depending on market demand.
Industry Partners Already Preparing Devices
Several manufacturers are reportedly working on handheld consoles powered by the new processors. Companies such as MSI and OneXPlayer are said to be among the first to adopt the Arc G3 platform.
Intel has also previously indicated collaborations with brands including Acer and Microsoft, pointing to a broader push into the portable gaming market.
