Motorola has officially joined the race for ultra-thin smartphones with its new Moto X70 Air, a mid-range contender that combines sleek design with solid performance and impressive durability. Measuring just under 6mm thick and weighing 159 grams, it’s one of the slimmest phones in its class — though not quite as thin as high-end models like Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge or Apple’s iPhone Air.
Despite its slim profile, Motorola managed to fit in a 4,800mAh battery — a major advantage over competitors. The battery supports 68W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging, outpacing the Galaxy S25 Edge’s 3,900mAh and the iPhone Air’s 3,149mAh capacities. This combination of thinness and endurance makes the Moto X70 Air particularly appealing to users who want a lightweight phone without sacrificing longevity.
On the front, the X70 Air features a 6.7-inch flat OLED display with 1220p+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth visuals and vibrant colours. The screen can reach up to 4,500 nits peak brightness, ensuring excellent visibility outdoors. Embedded beneath the display is an optical fingerprint sensor, while a 50MP front-facing camera sits in a small punch-hole cutout.
Under the hood, the phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There’s no microSD expansion slot or headphone jack — a common tradeoff in ultra-thin designs — but Motorola includes a 3D vapor chamber for improved thermal management, helping the phone sustain performance during gaming or multitasking.
The dual rear camera system consists of a 50MP main sensor from Samsung (model unspecified) and a 50MP ultra-wide lens offering a 120° field of view. Together, they aim to balance high-resolution detail with versatility, fitting the phone’s premium design philosophy.
Durability is another area where the Moto X70 Air stands out. The reinforced metal frame is engineered to withstand drops from various angles, and the device carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings — meaning it can handle dust, submersion, and even high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. That’s a rare level of protection in this segment.
Aesthetically, Motorola is emphasising design individuality by offering the X70 Air in Pantone-certified colours: Gadget Grey, Lily Pad, and Bronze Green. Each variant features distinct accent hues around the camera rings and power button, adding a premium, fashion-forward touch.
The Moto X70 Air is currently listed on Lenovo’s official website in China, though pricing hasn’t been announced yet. Reports suggest a global version will follow soon, likely branded as the Motorola Edge 70.
If Motorola manages to keep the pricing competitive, the Moto X70 Air could easily become one of the most compelling mid-range phones of the year — blending flagship design cues, strong battery life, and impressive build quality into an exceptionally slim frame.
