Slack has long served as a central hub for workplace communication, housing everything from quick messages and shared files to presentations, reports, and planning documents. While that concentration of information is useful, it often makes finding specific details time-consuming. With its latest update, Salesforce aims to change that by transforming Slackbot into a more capable, AI-driven assistant.
On Tuesday, Salesforce announced the rollout of a redesigned Slackbot that leverages the context of conversations, files, channels, and workflows to answer questions and perform tasks directly within Slack. The upgrade is now becoming available to eligible customers.

According to Salesforce, the new Slackbot is designed to feel natural and intuitive, requiring no special training. Users can ask questions in plain language—such as “What did we decide about the Q4 budget?”—and receive focused, curated answers that go beyond what a standard keyword search would return.
Beyond retrieving information, the assistant can also take action on a user’s behalf. Salesforce says Slackbot can help coordinate calendars, schedule meetings, draft meeting notes, create project briefs, and assist with other routine tasks, all from a single text prompt. Over time, the bot is expected to adapt to individual preferences and communication styles, offering a more personalized experience for users.
To extend its usefulness beyond internal conversations, Slackbot can also be connected to Salesforce data. This allows teams to discuss customer metrics, review account information, and generate briefings that combine client conversations with live business data, without leaving the Slack interface.
Salesforce emphasized that the feature was built with enterprise security in mind. Slackbot can only access content it has been explicitly permitted to see, and all interactions remain protected under Slack’s existing security and compliance standards.
The upgraded Slackbot is rolling out starting today for Slack Business+ and Enterprise customers. Salesforce positions the update as a step toward making Slack not just a communication tool, but a more effective workspace where information is easier to find and work can move forward with fewer interruptions.
