At the Xiaomi 17 series launch event, the company didn’t just focus on smartphones. It also introduced two new tablets — the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro — both designed to deliver strong performance and impressive visuals for productivity and entertainment.

Both models share several core features. Each model comes with an 11.2-inch LCD that offers a 3.2K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 800 nits of peak brightness. The panels also support HDR10, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision, ensuring vibrant color reproduction.

Xiaomi is also offering a Matte edition for both devices, which features an AG texture coating that reduces reflections by up to 70%. Audio is handled by quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, and both tablets include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 9,200mAh battery, and run on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Connectivity features are also the same across the lineup, with support for Wi-Fi 7, 5G, and Bluetooth 5.4.

Where the two tablets differ is in performance and camera setup. The standard Xiaomi Pad 8 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, with configurations offering up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The Pro model steps up to the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and offers up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. On the imaging front, the regular Pad 8 has a 13MP rear camera paired with an 8MP selfie shooter, while the Pad 8 Pro boasts a 50MP main camera and a 32MP front camera. Charging speeds are also different — the Pad 8 supports 45W fast charging, while the Pro version pushes that to 67W.

In terms of pricing, the Xiaomi Pad 8 starts at CNY 2,199 (about $310) for the 8GB + 128GB model, going up to CNY 2,799 (around $390) for the 12GB + 256GB option. The Matte edition costs a bit more, starting at CNY 2,699 ($380) for the 8GB + 256GB variant.

The Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro, on the other hand, is priced from CNY 2,799 ($390) for the 8GB + 128GB version and goes all the way up to CNY 3,899 ($550) for the top-tier 16GB + 512GB model. The Matte edition of the Pro starts at CNY 3,599 ($505).

Both tablets come in Black, Turquoise Green, and Ice Crystal Blue color options. With their slim 5.75mm profile, 485g weight, and a focus on display quality and raw power, the Xiaomi Pad 8 series offers strong competition in the premium Android tablet space.

The Pro model, in particular, is geared towards gamers, professionals, and creators who want flagship-level performance in a portable form factor.
