Apple’s next generation of products powered by the M5 chip appears to be just around the corner. According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who is known for accurate Apple-related reports, the company is preparing to unveil the first MacBook Pro 14-inch model featuring the new SoC later this week.
Shortly afterwards, updated versions of the iPad Pro and the Vision Pro are also expected to arrive — both equipped with the same M5 processor.
A Quiet Launch, No Major Event Planned
Unlike major product unveilings, Apple is reportedly planning a low-key release, with announcements to be made via press releases on the company’s website rather than a full keynote presentation.
The first product to debut with the M5 will be the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, codenamed “J704”, which is already being tested internally with a dedicated version of macOS Tahoe, the upcoming version of macOS — a clear sign that the hardware is nearly ready for market.
Adding to the speculation, inventory levels of the current M4 MacBook Pro have been declining in several Apple Stores — a typical indicator that new models are about to replace them.
High-End M5 Models Coming in 2026
While the M5 chip will debut this week, Apple’s full transition to the M5 family will take place gradually throughout 2026. According to insider reports, the more powerful MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are scheduled for release in early 2026.
Meanwhile, refreshed MacBook Air, Mac mini, and Mac Studio models powered by M5 silicon are expected to launch in the second half of 2026.
