Users who already rely on Perplexity for research and everyday task automation can now access the AI tool directly on Samsung smart TVs. The South Korean company announced this Thursday (29) that Perplexity is now available as an application on its televisions, expanding the role of AI beyond smartphones and computers.
The integration is designed to make searches easier and more intuitive when using a TV. With Perplexity built in, users can perform everything from quick, simple queries to more in-depth research directly on the big screen. The interface also supports personalised content recommendations, helping viewers discover relevant information, shows, and topics without switching devices.
The app is available on Samsung TVs equipped with Vision AI, starting with the Q7F model. To activate the AI, users simply need to press and hold the Home button on the remote control.
Once enabled, Perplexity seamlessly integrates with live channels from Samsung TV Plus and popular streaming platforms, enabling users to ask questions about what they are watching in real time.
According to Alexandre Gleb, TV product manager at Samsung , this integration represents a shift in how televisions are used:
“By integrating generative AIs like Perplexity into our TVs, we stop them from being just entertainment centers and transform them into interactive and intelligent information hubs.”
Other AI assistants on Samsung TVs
Perplexity is not the only AI option available on Samsung’s Vision AI televisions. Users can also interact with Bixby, Samsung’s native virtual assistant, which can answer questions about the content currently playing on the screen.
Another option is Microsoft Copilot. Copilot allows users to search the web, get information about movies and TV series, and ask general questions—all without needing to pick up a smartphone or laptop.
Both Bixby and Copilot are available for free on compatible Samsung TVs. Perplexity, on the other hand, includes Perplexity Pro free for the first 12 months. After that trial period, the service will require a subscription costing $20 per month.
With multiple AI assistants now integrated, Samsung is clearly positioning its TVs as more than just screens for watching content—turning them into smart, AI-powered hubs for information, discovery, and interaction.
