Windows errors are nothing new—Microsoft’s updates occasionally introduce more problems than they solve. The latest trouble comes from the KB5063878 patch for Windows 11, which has been linked to several unexpected failures.
According to Microsoft’s own blog post, the update contains a bug that affects AutoCAD, where the tool unnecessarily requests administrator permissions. This disrupts the normal workflow, particularly for standard user accounts, and makes the experience frustrating for non-admin users.
Unfortunately, AutoCAD is not the only program impacted. Microsoft also confirmed audio-related issues, specifically affecting NDI (Network Device Interface) functionality, which could cause disruptions in media, broadcasting, or other professional workflows that depend on NDI.
The company has acknowledged these problems and is actively investigating, but no permanent fix has been rolled out yet. Users are advised to monitor updates and consider holding off on KB5063878 if their work depends heavily on AutoCAD or NDI audio systems.
Windows 11 KB5063878 Patch Triggers AutoCAD Issues
Microsoft has acknowledged that one of its recent security patches for Windows 11, KB5063878, is causing unexpected problems with AutoCAD.
The issue appears when users attempt to launch AutoCAD: instead of opening normally, the User Account Control (UAC) prompt automatically pops up, asking for administrator permissions. While this may not seem like a major hurdle for individual PCs, it creates a serious obstacle in environments where standard user accounts are the norm, such as schools, training labs, and workplaces with restricted access. In these cases, AutoCAD becomes unusable.
Adding to the frustration, when users try to dismiss the UAC prompt, an error code is displayed, blocking further action. This bug was first reported in the second week of August 2025, and it has been directly tied to the KB5063878 update.
However, it’s not an isolated incident. Microsoft confirmed that similar issues are also linked to updates KB5063875 and KB5064010 for Windows 11, as well as KB5063877 and KB5063709 for Windows 10.
The company further clarified that the bug impacts AutoCAD versions from 2022 through 2026, making it a widespread concern for professionals and institutions relying on these editions.
Microsoft has confirmed audio and video delays in transmissions
Microsoft has recently acknowledged the root causes behind delays in audio and video playback under certain conditions, which also impact NDI performance.
According to the company, a bug affects the transmission of both sound and video, particularly when apps like OBS are involved. However, the issue isn’t limited to OBS—users relying on NDI applications may encounter the same problems even without streaming tools.
In its official announcement, Microsoft confirmed that this Windows 11 glitch disrupts NDI streams. For context, NDI (Network Device Interface) is widely used in broadcasting and streaming setups, often configured through OBS. This means anyone running such setups might notice lag or instability in their streams.
The good news is that NDI has published detailed documentation explaining how to either roll back the update or apply fixes depending on the nature of the error. While most people won’t run into this issue—since it only appears under specific circumstances—it’s still useful to know how to handle it if it does happen.
Meanwhile, some community members have suggested alternatives, such as using open-source tools like distroav. This allows NDI to function in OBS without the need for a capture device, which stops working after the problematic patch.
Microsoft is expected to roll out a permanent fix in an upcoming Windows 11 update. Until then, the issue remains frustrating for streamers and content creators who rely heavily on NDI for smooth transmissions.
