AI startup Anthropic, the company behind the Claude family of models and a major rival to OpenAI, has closed a massive $13 billion Series F funding round, bringing its valuation to $183 billion.
In a press release, Anthropic reported rapid growth over the past year. The company’s run-rate revenue jumped from about $1 billion at the start of 2025 to over $5 billion by August, less than nine months later. The firm now counts more than 300,000 business customers, with its base of large accounts—clients generating more than $100,000 in run-rate revenue—growing sevenfold year over year.
A significant share of this momentum has come from Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI-powered coding assistant. Since its full launch earlier this year, the product has seen usage climb tenfold and has already surpassed $500 million in run-rate revenue.
Backed by Major Investors
The new round was led by ICONIQ, Fidelity Management & Research Company, and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from the Qatar Investment Authority, TPG, Altimeter, Blackstone, Coatue, General Catalyst, and others.
Anthropic said the fresh capital will help it expand internationally, scale to meet rising enterprise demand, and continue advancing safety research—a core focus of the company since its founding.
