Samsung may be preparing to introduce a new wearable device called the Galaxy Aero, according to a report citing references found in the latest version of the Galaxy Wearable app.
The previously unannounced product was identified by SamMobile, which found code referencing a device codenamed “Samsung Galaxy Aero.” While Samsung has not officially acknowledged the product, the discovery has sparked speculation about a new addition to the company’s wearable lineup.
Code Suggests RTOS Instead of Wear OS
The leaked code includes the label “galaxy_rtos_watch,” indicating that the device could run a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) rather than Google’s Wear OS platform.
Samsung currently uses RTOS on several of its more affordable wearable products, including the Galaxy Fit fitness band series. Compared with Wear OS, RTOS generally requires fewer hardware resources and focuses on longer battery life and core fitness tracking features.
The code does not reveal additional details about the device’s specifications or design.
Although the software reference includes the word “watch,” Samsung markets the Galaxy Fit lineup as smart fitness bands rather than smartwatches. That distinction has led to speculation that Galaxy Aero could represent an entirely new wearable positioned between the company’s fitness bands and full-featured Galaxy Watch models.
Industry observers suggest the device could target users looking for a simpler and more affordable smartwatch without the advanced features or higher price of Wear OS-powered models.
The report also comes as Samsung is rumored to be developing Galaxy Buds Able, a new pair of clip-style wireless earbuds that have appeared in previous leaks.
If both products are launched, Galaxy Aero could expand Samsung’s budget-friendly ecosystem by offering an alternative to the Galaxy Watch FE while pairing with the upcoming earbuds.
No Official Confirmation Yet
At this stage, the existence of the Galaxy Aero is based solely on references found within the Galaxy Wearable application’s code. Samsung has not confirmed the product, its specifications, launch date, or final branding.
As with many software discoveries, features and product names identified during development may change before any official announcement.
More details are expected to emerge if Samsung includes the device in future software updates or announces new wearable products later this year.
