Samsung has officially launched the testing phase for One UI 9, the next version of its custom Android interface built on Android 17. The beta program is currently limited to the Galaxy S26 series in select regions, marking the first step toward the broader rollout of Samsung’s latest software experience.
The company is expected to release the stable version of One UI 9 between June and July 2026, with the update likely to debut alongside the upcoming foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
While Samsung has yet to publish an official compatibility list, the company’s long-term software support commitments provide a clear indication of which Galaxy devices are expected to receive the update.
One UI 9 Focuses on Usability and Security
One UI 9 introduces a series of interface refinements to improve usability while bringing several native Android 17 features to Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Among the most noticeable changes is a redesigned Quick Panel. Samsung has reorganised controls for brightness, volume, and media playback into independent blocks, allowing users greater flexibility to customise size and placement.
The update also places stronger emphasis on security. A new protective system can actively identify and block potentially harmful applications or suspicious downloads before they are installed.
Samsung is also expanding multitasking options with native support for floating app windows through bubble-style overlays. Privacy settings have also received attention, with a new permissions tool enabling users to restrict applications to specific contacts rather than granting access to an entire address book or calendar.

Although Samsung has not officially confirmed the final list of eligible devices, the following Galaxy smartphones are expected to receive One UI 9 based on the company’s software update policies.

Eligible devices are expected to include the Galaxy M06, M15, M16, M34, M54 5G, M55, and M56.
Wider Rollout Expected Later in 2026
Samsung’s beta rollout suggests that development of One UI 9 is progressing on schedule. Following testing on the Galaxy S26 lineup, the company is expected to gradually expand access to additional flagship and mid-range models before the stable release reaches supported devices later in the year.
As always, availability may vary by market, carrier, and device model once Samsung begins the public rollout.
