The device repair website iFixit posted a full teardown of the Apple Vision Pro headset. This gave us a first in-depth look at the inside of Vision Pro’s mixed reality device.
In a video and written teardown, iFixit revealed several of the components that make up the Vision Pro:
- An array of cameras and sensors
- Fans
- Lens motors
- And more
Unsurprisingly, the Vision Pro will be challenging to open and repair. But some positives are easily replaceable speakers and batteries, per iFixit.
The Vision Pro runs on Apple’s latest M2 chip, plus a custom R1 chip to handle all input from 12 cameras, 5 sensors, and 6 microphones. It aims to make content feel like it appears right before your eyes.
In photos shared earlier, Apple designers said they picked “flexible” and “soft” materials for physical and social comfort when wearing the Vision Pro.
Apple designed the Vision Pro headset using lots of flexible, soft materials. For example, the headband is made from a knit textile like the Apple Watch Solo Loop bands. This was to ensure physical comfort when wearing the Vision Pro for extended periods. The materials also provide “social comfort” – making the headset not stand out too much visually
