Samsung’s next flagship smartphone could finally address one of the most requested upgrades from Galaxy S Ultra users, according to a new leak.
Fresh rumors surrounding the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra suggest that Samsung is preparing significant improvements for its premium smartphone lineup, including a larger battery, enhanced display technology, and a redesigned camera setup.
According to information shared by well-known tipster Debayan Roy, also known as Gadgetsdata, Samsung may equip the Galaxy S27 Ultra with a battery approaching 6,000mAh. If accurate, it would mark the first major battery capacity increase for the Ultra series in several generations, as previous models have consistently featured 5,000mAh batteries.
The larger battery could help Samsung better compete with flagship devices from Chinese manufacturers, many of which have recently introduced smartphones with substantially higher battery capacities.
Brighter Display and Next-Generation Performance
The leak also claims that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature a 6.9-inch flat LTPO OLED display with 2K resolution. Samsung is reportedly planning to use its new M16 OLED material, which is expected to improve brightness, efficiency, and overall display performance.
Powering the device could be Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, built on an advanced 2-nanometer manufacturing process. The chipset is expected to deliver improvements in both performance and power efficiency compared to current flagship processors.
Samsung may also introduce LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage technology, offering faster data transfer speeds and improved energy management. These upgrades could contribute to smoother multitasking, quicker app loading times, and enhanced overall responsiveness.
Camera Redesign Could Bring a New Look
Beyond internal upgrades, Samsung is reportedly considering a new horizontal camera layout for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The rear camera system is rumored to include a 200-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilization, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom.
Industry sources also suggest that Samsung may remove the dedicated 3x telephoto lens found in previous Ultra models, potentially streamlining the camera system while relying on improved sensor technology and image processing.
Support for Qi2 and Magnetic Accessories
Another notable addition could be support for the Qi2 wireless charging standard. This would enable compatibility with magnetic accessories similar to Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem, offering users a wider range of charging and attachment options.
Additional rumored features include an aluminum frame, USB-C connectivity, and improvements to the device’s cooling system to better handle demanding workloads and gaming sessions.
